Gill Foundation and Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado Release 2007 Online Annual Report

Publication Date: May 20, 2008

The Gill Foundation announced today the release of its 2007 annual report: Achieving Full Equality.  The report is available online at www.gillannualreport.org.   This year’s report focuses on the efforts of individuals and organizations working to advance equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people at all stages of life.  Six grantees are the focus of streaming video interviews posted within the Grantee Profile page.

The focus of the 2007 annual report is achieving full equality and the work it takes throughout life.  Grantees working to develop safe schools talk about the importance of creating environments where kids feel free to express themselves.  Grantees expanding safe, inclusive work environments talk about the need for nondiscrimination legislation.  Marriage equality advocates discuss the “outbreak of happiness” that accompanies laws protecting of all families.  Allies speak to the importance of standing for equality of all, that social justice for one is tied to social justice for all.

The annual report additionally offers links to all of the foundation’s grantee’s websites so that readers may learn more about the groups the Gill Foundation is funding.  The 2007 report is again offered exclusively in an online format, in order to minimize the environmental effects of printing.

The Gill Foundation was established in 1994 by software entrepreneur Tim Gill to secure equal opportunity for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression.  2006 designated the year in which the Gill Foundation broke the $100 million mark in investments in organizations throughout the country and has currently invested more than $120 million to advance equality.  The Gill Foundation looks forward to continuing this work by encouraging collaborations with individuals and organizations such as those highlighted in this year’s report.

Welcome to the website for the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado

We’d like to update you on some important news.

In 2012, we are taking a break from all new grantmaking to undergo a strategic re-evaluation.

During this time, the Gay & Lesbian Fund will not accept any unsolicited 2012 grant applications, but all grantees that were awarded a grant from the Gay & Lesbian Fund during 2011 will receive a grant of the same amount in 2012 with no paperwork required. We will accomplish those renewals by March 1, 2012.

The Gay & Lesbian Fund is a program of the Gill Foundation. The Gill Foundation is as committed to Colorado as ever – giving more than $3.5 million to Colorado nonprofits annually. After this re-evaluation, the Gay & Lesbian Fund, which is only a portion of our Colorado giving, will continue to be a significant part of the foundation’s work in the state. We will announce, and update this site to reflect, the Gay & Lesbian Fund’s revised grantmaking and application guidelines as soon as that information is available.

In the interim, all Colorado programs outside of the Gay & Lesbian Fund, including the funding of our progressive allies, our LGBT and HIV service and advocacy organizations, and our anti-bullying work will continue on their current trajectory and will not be directly affected.

Thank you for your patience in the weeks and months ahead. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@gayandlesbianfund.org.
