About Us
Creating a Colorado where every person is treated
equally and with respect.
The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado was founded in 1996 with a goal of financially supporting nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life in Colorado and promote equality for all people.
Having awarded more than $22 million to programs across the state, the fund is proud of the collaborations formed with those who share a common vision for equality. Along with grantees, business partners, nonprofit leaders, public supporters, and allies, the Gay & Lesbian Fund believes that Colorado is a stronger state when all residents have equal access to opportunities and resources.
Over the years, our investments in high-impact nonprofits have bettered the quality of life for all Coloradans by providing important arts and culture, civic participation, healthy families, and public broadcasting programs.
But we give much more than money. We’re leaders and always collaborators. We believe that you can never have too many allies and too few enemies. We provoke conversations — the ones worth having about the importance of equality for all people. We share well with others and believe that knowledge should not be treated as a commodity. We introduce people to one another and convene groups to learn from one another. We enlist, educate and motivate. We’re responsible and thoughtful.
We believe that the fund’s work has created an understanding that the fair and equal treatment of all people is good for our state.
The Gay & Lesbian Fund does not provide financial support to organizations that exclusively serve the state’s LGBT population. The fund is a program of the Gill Foundation. Support to Colorado’s LGBT organizations is provided by the foundation.
