Edward Gray

An experienced grantmaker, Edward previously served as Executive Director of YouthPride, a program for LGBT youth in Atlanta. Under his leadership, the organization grew to be the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization in Georgia with programs focusing on safe schools, suicide prevention, lesbian health, advocacy and lobbying, and a 24/7 helpline. YouthPride was recognized as Atlanta’s best nonprofit by editors of Southern Voice.
Gray holds a doctorate in religious studies from Emory University. He is the co-editor of Gay Religion, a collection of writings portraying varied religious practices of LGBT individuals. Gray has published articles on gay religious life, on catastrophe as a transcendent event, and op-ed pieces in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He serves on the National Advisory Council of the Faith and Religion Project of the Human Rights Campaign and on the board of directors of The Murie Center, a nationally recognized environmental organization in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He also served for 5 years as a mentor for a youth in Georgia’s child welfare system.
