Arts & Culture
- The Children’s Museum of Denver put books into the hands of hundreds of low-income students and enabled the kids to participate in fun, enriching learning experiences.
- El Centro Su Teatro helps people connect with their cultural roots by serving up music, poetry, visual arts, and film.
Civic Participation
- 9to5 National Association for Working Women helped LaTerrell Bradford get involved in public policy activities to gain equal pay legislation for women.
- The Latina Initiative inspired Rhonda Solis to build community awareness and create a sense of empowerment among Latinas in Greeley.
Healthy Families
- Growing Home helped a single mom acquire financial assistance, food, and housing so that she could better care for her children and escape an abusive relationship.
- Care and Share Food Bank distributed 11.3 million pounds of food to 99,000 people through human service agencies and sister food banks in Southern Colorado in 2008.
Public Broadcasting
- KGNU Community Radio helps people like Penny Welch in Cortez get access to clear information about critical state legislative topics, from state tax issues to public school standards;
- KAFM Radio reaches thousands of listeners in Western Colorado with programming that highlights topics of diversity, and prides itself in its open and inclusive community collaborations.
