The Gay & Lesbian Fund supports organizations that enrich lives through the visual arts, performing arts, and cultural programs.
We support exceptional organizations that offer progressive programming designed to stimulate dialogue and challenge stereotypes, reach out to diverse racial, ethnic, religious, sexual or cultural populations, and advance the concepts of equality and inclusion in Colorado.
The success stories of our Arts & Culture grantees are numerous.
- The Children’s Museum of Denver put books into the hands of hundreds of low-income students and enabled the kids to participate in fun, enriching learning experiences.
- El Centro Su Teatro helps people connect with their cultural roots by serving up music, poetry, visual arts, and film.
- Colorado Business Committee for the Arts enabled children to explore art as a healing tool within the hallways of a children’s hospital.
Explore the many ways in which our grantees are working to advance equality by reading their stories in our “Improving Lives” section.
Central City Opera
Opera's roots are in the working class. In the past, opera offered entertainment for everyone, including children. Today, it stays true to its roots while fostering an appreciation not only for art but for history, literature, and politics.
